| Winter Steelhead |

Along with the remaining run of Chinook still in the Tillamook system, Steelhead have now started to come in. The numbers are not huge by any means but they are being caught. Over the last week there have been about a dozen or so fish caught. Again that is along with some Chinook that are still present. What a great time to be out fishing! Bring a rod of each and spend the day on the Wilson River. I've heard the Nestucca has been producing Steelhead as well. All for now...report more as I hear. | Wilson River Chinook |

The rains have settled down and the Wilson River is in prime shape. At 10pm it's sitting at 4.9 and with no rain the last couple days I'm sure it's going to be a perfect color as well. And lets not forget about the Trask River or the Kilchis. Both of these rivers will be in prime shape and color too. If it's Steelhead you're after look for the NF Nehalem. Focus on the hatchery and below the falls. Right now the NF is at 32" and is starting to clear. Early in the week it was a bit higher and had more color and with the rains, brought up a nice batch of fish. My buddy is going down tomorrow and I know I'll be getting a report so til tomorrow good luck to everyone who goes. Fish On! Along with the site here, we are still in baby steps with the Facebook account but look forward to making friends with everyone possible. I plan to continue posting the reports and blogs here but instead of pics here on the site I'm going to be posting those on Facebook as it's much much easier to accomplish. Please feel free to check us out and look forward to making new friends! With the rains now letting up the coastal rivers this week are going to explode with fish. This could be the best week of fishing since the rains came and brought up the water. Fish have been on the move since then and as the water settles down, so will the fish. Hit your favorite spot and have at it. 2 weekends ago before the rivers blew out of shape the Wilson was at prime level and my buddy Randy hit 2 fish in 2 days. A beautiful 25 lb hen stuffed with eggs, and a 30 lb buck. both really nice fish. As things settle down I look for it to be lights out again. I have created a Facebook page for anyone interested. I have decided instead of posting the pics here it's a lot easier to post on Facebook. This site will still continue to have the reports and eventually you will see a shopping cart either on this site or Facebook. I hope this info helps and look forward to hearing some feedback to anyone that wants to share. Send me your pics, I'll post them!
Thanks for tuning in and tight lines! | Wilson River Fishing |

I had a chance to fish the Wilson yesterday, floating from Mills Bridge to Sollie Smith Bridge. The water was gorgeous, sitting at 4.8 with a slight drop. We saw only 2 fish caught and heard of 1 more. Not sure why the slow day for such great conditions. As I talked it over with my buddy, we come to the conclusion that it must be between spurts. Meaning that with every rain and rise of the river a "spurt" of fish will move up. My buddy Steve had fished earlier in the week (Tuesday) where there were a lot of fish caught all over the river. Right now the hot item seems to be puff balls or eggs. Well, as the next rain hits the coast and the water gets a new freshet to it I'll post more as I hear it. Hope you all are having good fishing. If you get a chance scroll down and check out the new affiliate to get into fish! See ya next time. | Wilson River Fishing |

After a long, long wait for the Wilson to get in shape, the time has finally come. Right now the Wilson River is running at 5.1 and holding. The graph predicts a slight rise and fall over the weekend, but I think it will fish just fine. At this point, I think the color would be most important. If the color is running more clear than usual, go with a smaller presentation and longer leader. I don't think that will be a problem though. The river has been on the high side over the last 2 weeks at least so I think this weekend will be money. Actually today I think would be the best day in a long time. I look to see many fish caught today. But for those who fish the weekend, get out there. It should be a good show. Fish should be loaded in all the slots from top to bottom. My favorite drift being from Mills Bridge to Sollie Smith Bridge.
Hope to hear of lots of fish being caught ...and good luck! Tags: fishing reports | trask | Nehalem | steelhead | steelhead fishing | fishing for steelhead | wilson | kilchis | tillamook Hits: 150 | Read more... |

| Wilson River Fishing |
| 2009.11.19 04:24:30 | |

Last Saturday before the big storm, I actually got great conditions and a chance to fish the Wilson River. I had been fishing the past 2 weekends on the Trask, but each time the river had rose just a tad above the limit and turned into a "river runs through it" type condition. Needless to say it didn't take long to get through my drift. As usual, Chad had been down all week prior and was hooking fish like no tomorrow, catching some nice, bright, and sometimes huge fish. All between the poundage of 18 up to 37 lbs. As we hit the Wilson on Saturday, everything was going our way. River running at a hazey green 5.2', on the drop, and we had all the signs that we were gonna be hooking fish all day. Well, as we put in and started to float, we saw Chad coming down behind us. Our boat fished all day, floating it twice and come out with nothing. Chad on the other hand between him and his friend landed 3 in the boat. All getting the 1 non-clipped fish limit. Yay for them. Here we are 4 days later and I'm still scratching my head wondering where all the fish were. We only saw and heard of maybe 10 being caught all day. Among about 20-30 boats. The only thing I can think of is that the water has been running on the high side for a little while now and when it started to settle so did the fish. I return to fishing on Turkey day where I'll be giving it another shot. Hopefully with better results. And of course I'll blog more if & when I hear it. Cheers~ Tags: tillamook bay | chinook fishing | tillamook | kilchis | wilson | trask | chinook | salmon fishing | fishing reports | reports | fishing | salmon Hits: 185 | Read more... |

| Trask River Fishing |
| 2009.11.04 02:02:42 | |
|
Well, as Herman Creek has cooled off and the fish are making their way to spawning grounds and moving upriver, I turn my attention to Tillamook Bay and the Rivers that flow to it. With that said, as I wait for the fall Chinook to invade the Wilson River, I hooked up with Chad (again) over on the very nearby Trask. I have fished this river a few times, but never with much results. Maybe because I would wait too long. If you wait for the fish to be in the Wilson, you will find that the Trask run will have already begun. Over the last 2 weeks Chad and buddies of his have been fishing the Trask quite regularly. And heavily. The result you ask? How about over 40, maybe 50 fish to the bank! Not all coming home of course, but hooking into and getting to the bank to get pics and let loose. Some really nice fish would include some nickel bright 20 lb, 30 lb class fish. The other day a dad to one of his buddies reported a 40 lb brute. Of course as I made it down on Saturday, it had rained over 2" and the rivers got muddy and blew out. However, I will be swinging by tomorrow (Wednesday). I'll report when I get home. The river seems to be fishing best when the water level is running at or around 7'. I strongly suggest checking the river levels before you go fishing (anywhere for that matter), as the rivers can rise quickly. Some clear better than others. Well friends, all for now. I'll report more as I get it. Til then, happy fishing and may your nets be full!
