Winter Steelhead
2011.12.08 04:31:50

Along with the remaining run of Chinook still in the Tillamook system, Steelhead have now started to come in.  The numbers are not huge by any means but they are being caught.  Over the last week there have been about a dozen or so fish caught.  Again that is along with some Chinook that are still present.  What a great time to be out fishing!  Bring a rod of each and spend the day on the Wilson River.  I've heard the Nestucca has been producing Steelhead as well.

All for now...report more as I hear.

Wilson River Chinook
2011.12.03 05:48:15
The rains have settled down and the Wilson River is in prime shape.  At 10pm it's sitting at 4.9 and with no rain the last couple days I'm sure it's going to be a perfect color as well.  And lets not forget about the Trask River or the Kilchis.  Both of these rivers will be in prime shape and color too.  If it's Steelhead you're after look for the NF Nehalem.  Focus on the hatchery and below the falls.  Right now the NF is at 32" and is starting to clear.  Early in the week it was a bit higher and had more color and with the rains, brought up a nice batch of fish.  My buddy is going down tomorrow and I know I'll be getting a report so til tomorrow good luck to everyone who goes.  Fish On!

2011.11.29 07:04:32

I have added a new addition to the site.  Facebook.  I'm hoping to combine the site and Facebook together as a better way to get people involved and into what we do.

Along with the site here, we are still in baby steps with the Facebook account but look forward to making friends with everyone possible.

I plan to continue posting the reports and blogs here but instead of pics here on the site I'm going to be posting those on Facebook as it's much much easier to accomplish.

Please feel free to check us out and look forward to making new friends!

Tillamook Chinook
2011.11.29 06:26:17

With the rains now letting up the coastal rivers this week are going to explode with fish.  This could be the best week of fishing since the rains came and brought up the water.  Fish have been on the move since then and as the water settles down, so will the fish.  Hit your favorite spot and have at it.

2 weekends ago before the rivers blew out of shape the Wilson was at prime level and my buddy Randy hit 2 fish in 2 days.  A beautiful 25 lb hen stuffed with eggs, and a 30 lb buck.  both really nice fish.  As things settle down I look for it to be lights out again.

I have created a Facebook page for anyone interested.  I have decided instead of posting the pics here it's a lot easier to post on Facebook.  This site will still continue to have the reports and eventually you will see a shopping cart either on this site or Facebook.

I hope this info helps and look forward to hearing some feedback to anyone that wants to share.  Send me your pics, I'll post them!

Thanks for tuning in and tight lines!

Columbia River Chinook
2011.06.22 02:14:42

The June Hogs are here!  Lower Columbia...some mighty big fish and a lot of them.  My buddy made it out last week where it was just insane!  He lost count of how many take downs and "bites" he had but at the end of the day he (and I believe his wife was there too) landed 9 fish.  Beautiful beautiful fish.  Jacks and Chinook both.  Way to go Jasen!

I'm guessing that in the next week or 2 these fish should be reaching as far up as Troutdale.  Chinook Landing will be the ticket.  Get out the Alvin Wobblers and get after it.

More to come and happy fishing folks

Willamette River Springers
2010.04.25 22:28:26

Yesterday I had yet another chance to hit the Willamette for some Springer action.  We had a great day, getting 7 hook ups and 4 to the boat.

All hatchery fish bright as bright as could be!  One of which tipped 30 lbs!  Biggest springer I have ever seen.  *(I know they come bigger, but for me that was a treat).

We started fishing at 0 dark 30, and fished til about 3 pm.  not a bad days work...  Wink

Well, planning on going out again on Tuesday, more reports & blogs to come.

Happy fishing!

Willamette River Springers
2010.04.20 21:19:23

Saturday I had a chance to fish the Willamette for some springers.  Overall, it was a slow day, but we did see about 16 fish caught.  2 of which were in our boat.  I got one really nice native and the guy I was fishing with caught an even nicer hatchery fish.  Both fish were bright and feisty.  Mine weighed in around 12 to 14 lbs while the hatchery fish came in around 15.

I was using prawns, while the other guy was using herring.  Both of which bought from BC Angling in Gladstone.

While talking to another guy on the river, he mentioned that they had opened the dam.  Thus the reason so much junk was coming down river and the water flow seemed a bit fast.

He had mentioned that before the dam had opened, they were catching 30+ fish a day out of the spot.  I'm guessing this week as they shut the dam back down and things clear up it should fire back up.

We had marked many fish on the fish finder, so I know they're in.  Just a matter of getting things cleared back up and getting the bite turned back on.

All for now, plan to go back out either Friday or Saturday.  Will post again this weekend.

Wilson River Fishing
2009.11.19 04:24:30

Last Saturday before the big storm, I actually got great conditions and a chance to fish the Wilson River.  I had been fishing the past 2 weekends on the Trask, but each time the river had rose just a tad above the limit and turned into a "river runs through it" type condition.  Needless to say it didn't take long to get through my drift.  As usual, Chad had been down all week prior and was hooking fish like no tomorrow, catching some nice, bright, and sometimes huge fish.  All between the poundage of 18 up to 37 lbs.

As we hit the Wilson on Saturday, everything was going our way.  River running at a hazey green 5.2', on the drop, and we had all the signs that we were gonna be hooking fish all day.

Well, as we put in and started to float, we saw Chad coming down behind us.  Our boat fished all day, floating it twice and come out with nothing.

Chad on the other hand between him and his friend landed 3 in the boat.  All getting the 1 non-clipped fish limit.  Yay for them.  Here we are 4 days later and I'm still scratching my head wondering where all the fish were.  We only saw and heard of maybe 10 being caught all day.  Among about 20-30 boats.  The only thing I can think of is that the water has been running on the high side for a little while now and when it started to settle so did the fish.

I return to fishing on Turkey day where I'll be giving it another shot.  Hopefully with better results.  And of course I'll blog more if & when I hear it.

Cheers~

Trask River Fishing
2009.11.04 02:02:42

Well, as Herman Creek has cooled off and the fish are making their way to spawning grounds and moving upriver, I turn my attention to Tillamook Bay and the Rivers that flow to it.

With that said, as I wait for the fall Chinook to invade the Wilson River, I hooked up with Chad (again) over on the very nearby Trask. I have fished this river a few times, but never with much results.  Maybe because I would wait too long.  If you wait for the fish to be in the Wilson, you will find that the Trask run will have already begun.

Over the last 2 weeks Chad and buddies of his have been fishing the Trask quite regularly.  And heavily.  The result you ask?  How about over 40, maybe 50 fish to the bank!  Not all coming home of course, but hooking into and getting to the bank to get pics and let loose.  Some really nice fish would include some nickel bright 20 lb, 30 lb class fish.  The other day a dad to one of his buddies reported a 40 lb brute.

Of course as I made it down on Saturday, it had rained over 2" and the rivers got muddy and blew out.  However, I will be swinging by tomorrow (Wednesday).  I'll report when I get home.

The river seems to be fishing best when the water level is running at or around 7'.  I strongly suggest checking the river levels before you go fishing (anywhere for that matter), as the rivers can rise quickly.  Some clear better than others.

Well friends, all for now.  I'll report more as I get it.  Til then, happy fishing and may your nets be full!

Cheers~

Herman Creek Coho
2009.10.18 22:15:28
After a canceled trip to Tillamook Bay due to bad storms and weather warnings we decided to go up the Columbia and try our luck at Herman Creek.  With the numbers over the dam increasing we figured it would be a good bet.  We launched at the crack of light and made our way over to the spot we were fishing.  It must not have been an hour before we had the 1st fish to the boat.  A nice chrome 15 lb Coho.  I ended up catching 2 more as the day went on, another nice native 15 lbs and a nice little hatchery buck for about 6, maybe 8 lbs.  By then we saw many fish all over the place.  By afternoon time severe rain moved in and seemed to put an end to the bite.  Honestly, I was expecting more than 3 by the numbers I see coming up, but all in all it was a great day of fishing.  Pics will be posted in the gallery soon.  All for now, and have fun wherever you may be fishing.  Cheers!
